InfoPath forms collapse on new SharePoint servers

06.07.2010

Make sure your InfoPath based solutions work flawlessly

If you have experience in placement of ready-made solutions based on InfoPath forms on new SharePoint servers, I’m sure you noticed that some InfoPath forms stop working. When it happens you see an error massage and your customized form is replaced by the standard one. Let’s try to figure out how we will solve this problem!

     Solution

  1. The first thing you should do is open an InfoPath form template in the InfoPath Designer.

  2. Then select “Data Source” on the “Design Task” panel.

  3. After doing that, click on “Manage Data Connection” in the lower part of the window.

  4. Look through all the items in the list and click the “Modify” button for all items that have a defined web service address.

  5. Now you should replace the defined address name with the required address (the address of the new SharePoint server) and press the ‘Next” button.

  6. Finally press “Next” in all the subsequent windows until you return to the “Data Connections” window.
There it is! Now your InfoPath forms are all set and ready to gather the information you need.
